Practical: Exercise Database & Resources

Exercise Database and Resources

Exercise is as diverse and opinionated as religion & politics. There are as many different approaches, spins, and opinions as there are human beings on earth.  At The Lab we have a synthesis of hundreds and hundreds of exercises and options that have been polished and developed by collaborating text book knowledge and in field experience.  It is absolutely crucial that we stay on the same page.

With the hundreds of exercises and counterparts out there, it is very difficult to bring everyone up to speed and stay caught up.  Therefore, this website and the training modules and practicals in place are intended to cover the most common and important pieces of the 3 phase model.   There will always be updates, evolutions, and new material that will be added.  It is important that you use this site and its references to stay up to date and to find any questions you may have. However, when in doubt ALWAYS ask. Never hesitate to ask, EVER!  Assuming is never ok nor an excuse.  We have a reason for everything here and it is never simply, ‘because I said so.’  Understanding the rationale will enhance your understanding of the model and thus your success with clients and the system.  Also, whether you do not know the exercise, call it by a different name, or simple wish to be on the same page as to how we teach it (or perhaps learn other new ways).

Please use our exercise index and the search function to find them.  Note, there are currently over 900 videos being pumped into this site and it will be updated daily/weekly.  Some exercise videos are ‘quickies’ merely demonstrating the movement.  Others are ‘long’ with thorough explanations for each.  And in some cases there are elaborate meetings covering various topics.

Also, many times new trainers fail to see the big picture in the training and programming and want to make snap decisions or changes. Often the alteration for such a need is already worked into the program, so there may be a more appropriate place or better approach. Always communicate with your training manager and director for these scenarios.

Most exercises will be linked and indexed.  We also have playlists with categories (see youtube and vimeo tabs at top of site).  However, this will not always be the case andceven doing a simple search in the website may bring up the exercise you are looking for (as well as plenty of other potential useful information).

Practical: Look up (search) for these 4 exercises within the site.  Navigate through in order to find them.  Watch the video for each.

1) Flying Posture Hold Position

2) Burgener Warm Up

3) Squatting Quad Muscle Snatch

4) The ‘LF2’ Core Circuit
