Heavy Metal Cross training | Strongman

Here at The L.A.B. Gym, we have designed these classes to help people hit their goals. We do not offer drop ins. Instead we have created a membership option specifically for members that want more direction, but do not want to compete.

HEAVY METAL Cross Training

Cross Training aims to optimize and encompass all areas of fitness. Our Heavy Metal Cross Training advocates a mix of body weight exercise, gymnastics, strength training, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, running, sprinting, jumping rope, plyometrics, rowing, and more. Come prepared for the unknown. We specialize without specializing; no two classes are ever alike. While this may sound intimidating, Cross Training is infused with a principle of ‘scalability’ meaning, all exercises can be regressed or progressed to similar elements that achieve a similar capacity/goal for that individual. Common exercises used like body weight squats, jumping rope, box jumps, kettlebell swings, snatch, clean & jerk, overhead squats, pull-ups, dips, muscle ups, rowing, pushups, and many more performance moves will be utilized to help you on whatever level you need to start. You bring it and we will be ready to deliver!

STRONGMAN TRAINING

Strongman is a sport that is an expression of strength with not your typical equipment. You’ll rarely find Olympic barbells and calibrated plates at a competition. Instead, you are more likely to find odd shaped implements such as logs, stones of all sizes, axle bars, sandbags, chains, farmer carry handles, and tons of other heavy sh*t. These various shaped objects are more difficult to manage due to their size and awkward nature, and are not only about lifting them. Athletes move them for reps, distance, and speed.

We have created an ideal set up at The L.A.B. Gym for you to enhance the strongman or woman in you. Fully equipped with all the toys that big boys and girls need to train and excel on a personal level or prepare for a competition.

The core of The L.A.B Gym revolves around Team L.A.B That is not to say you need to be involved or active with this option of the gym but it definitely gives you a sense as to how and why the gym formed. Our Group Olympic Weightlifting class focuses on mastering the snatch and clean & jerk. It is very common to see general enthusiasts, national level competitors, and Crossfitters all collaborate and train together. Concepts founded by Coach Justin Thacker and now led by national level lifters Jimmy Duke and  Drew Thompson. Team LAB hosts some of the most elite Olympic Weightlifting in the United States while assisting school age, Junior, and Senior level national champions with olympic potential.
